Run, run Rudolph
Santa’s got to make it to town
Santa make him hurry
Tell him he can take the freeway down
Run, run Rudolph
Cause I’m reeling like a merry-go-round …

Run, Rudolph Run
Written by Johnny Marks and Marvin Brodie
Although Johnny Marks was Jewish, he created a number of other Christmas hits, including Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree, A Holly Jolly Christmas, and Silver and Gold. Johnny Marks founded St. Nicholas Music in 1949 and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1981. Introduced by rock and roll legend Chuck Berry in 1958, the holiday classic has since been covered by numerous artists and is sometimes referred to as Run, Run, Rudolph.
The popular Christmas song is strikingly similar to Chuck Berry’s major 1958 rock and roll hit Johnny B. Goode. Indeed, it has appeared in many feature films, including Cast Away, Diner, Home Alone, Jingle All The Way, The Santa Clause 2, Stealing Christmas, and Deck the Halls.
Many artists have covered this song, including Sister Hazel, Billy Ray Cyrus, Dave Edmunds, Hanson, Sheryl Crow, Bryan Adams, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Grateful Dead, Keith Richards, Jimmy Buffett, Foghat, Paul Brandt, Dwight Yoakam, Rocky Burnette, Hanoi Rocks, Lulu, and The Brian Setzer Orchestra.

Rock ‘n’ roll accepted me and paid me, even though I loved the big bands. I went that way because I wanted a home of my own. I had a family. I had to raise them. Let’s don’t leave out the economics. No way.
