About Beau Williams
Beau Williams was raised on Gospel music in Houston, Texas. As a teenager, he regularly appeared on a local live television show and had a regional hit record.
In 1984 he competed as a male vocalist on Star Search and defeated thirteen-week champion Sam Harris. During this time he recorded several albums for Capitol Records: a self-titled album in 1982, Stay With Me (1983), Bodacious! (1984), and No More Tears (1986).
Following his association with Capitol, Beau Williams signed with Light Records and returned to his roots in Gospel music. His album Wonderful (1989) debuted at the number nine spot on Billboard’s chart, landed at two, and stayed in the top ten family for 58 weeks. The album earned a Dove Award for “Song of the Year,” as well as Grammy, Stellar, and James Cleveland Award nominations.
Beau Williams is one of the most sought after National Anthem singers in the United States. The Los Angeles Lakers relied on his powerful vocal skills for six years. He’s also performed for the Texas Rangers (MLB), Dallas Cowboys (NFL), and Houston Rockets (NBA).
Beau Williams
The label and management booked me on ‘Star Search’ in early 1984. My job was simple–out-sing the reigning male vocal champ, Sam Harris. Simple, indeed. Sam went on, sang his song, took a bow. Then I came on, sang ‘A Song for You’ and boom! I won the vote.
